About Panther Mountain Trailhead Parking.
The parking pullout is along Route 30 north of Tupper Lake, the standard Adirondack roadside trailhead with limited spaces. The hike itself is the appeal: short distance, steep grade, all the work compressed into the first half of the climb, and a clean summit view at the end.
The payoff is the look down on Panther Pond and across to the surrounding ridgelines. It's a good first-hike choice for visitors based in Tupper Lake or Long Lake who don't want to commit to a High Peaks day but still want elevation and a view.
Go in the morning to beat the heat and the crowds; the south-facing pitch warms up fast in summer. Year-round access; expect ice on the steep sections through April.
