Terms of service.
The handshake between us, you, and the Park.
Acceptable use
Visitors are welcome to read, search, save, and share. Don’t scrape the site at industrial volume, don’t copy whole pages to your own domain, and don’t use the directory to harass listed proprietors.
Proprietors who submit or claim a listing agree to keep the information honest — accurate hours, real photos, the actual business as it operates. We reserve the right to edit listings for clarity, consistency, and accuracy, and to remove anything that misrepresents a place.
Listing accuracy
We verify what we can — addresses, websites, season of operation — and we update what we hear about. We are not, however, the primary source. Hours change, places close, owners sell. Confirm anything that matters with the proprietor before you drive an hour to get there.
Sponsorship & affiliate disclosure
Today every listing is free, and there is no sponsored placement. When paid tiers and affiliate relationships go live (gear, booking, retailers), sponsored placements will be visibly labeled, and editorial roundups will disclose any commission relationships in the body of the page. We don’t take money for favorable reviews, and we don’t hide the disclosure in a footnote.
Copyright & DMCA
If you believe content on the site infringes a copyright you hold, send a takedown notice to hello@adirondackregion.com with the URL of the page, identification of the original work, your contact information, and a good-faith statement that you own the right or are authorized to act for the holder. We act on valid notices within ten business days.
Outdoor activity disclaimer
The Adirondack Park is a real wilderness. Hiking, paddling, fishing, swimming, climbing, snowmobiling, and skiing here carry real risks — weather, terrain, wildlife, water temperature — and those risks are yours. We are an editorial directory, not a guide service, not an outfitter, and not a search-and-rescue operation. We don’t verify trail conditions in real time, and we don’t inspect the businesses we list.
Plan with current NYSDEC information, file a trip plan with someone, carry the Ten Essentials, and turn around when the mountain says so. We are not liable for injury, loss, or damage arising from any activity inspired by anything you read here.
Subscriptions & cancellation
Free listings are free, and they remain free. When premium and sponsored tiers go live, terms will appear here in detail — billing cadence, refund window, cancellation by self-serve from the proprietor portal at /my, and what happens to a listing when a paid plan lapses (it reverts to free, it doesn’t disappear).
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Venue for any dispute is the state and federal courts located in New York. If you have a complaint, write to us first — most things resolve faster over email than in court.
