Saranac Lake Islands Campground offers primitive, boat-access-only camping on island sites within Lower Saranac Lake. This unique location provides extensive boater recreation and direct access to four other lakes via a lock system that adjusts water levels. Each island campsite includes an outhouse, but campers must bring their own potable water, ensuring a rustic Adirondack experience.

Reservations can be made up to nine months in advance. Campers must register between 2:00 PM and 9:00 PM on arrival day, with check-out by 11:00 AM. Sites are limited to six individuals and two tents, or one hard-wheeled unit with one tent. Parking at mainland boat launches may be limited, and extra vehicles incur additional fees. Quiet hours are strictly enforced from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

To preserve the environment, this is a carry-in, carry-out facility. Fires are allowed only in provided fireplaces, using dead and downed wood; cutting trees is forbidden. Pets are permitted with rabies vaccination proof, must be leashed, and are not allowed in structures or on beaches. Visitors are encouraged to prevent aquatic invasive species spread and to avoid moving firewood.
