§ The Trails · Lake Placid

Ahern Road.

A 0.7-mile unpaved stretch that works for road bikes as well as gravel rigs and boots. The surface is firm enough that you don't need knobbies, which makes it a quick, easy diversion when you want dirt without committing to a real backcountry ride. Short, but it gets you off pavement without the usual penalty.
