About Lake Placid Pub & Brewery.
Mirror Lake Drive in Lake Placid, on the village side of Mirror Lake. The brewery opened in 1996 and built its name on Ubu Ale, the English-style strong ale that still anchors the tap list. The room runs three floors with different vibes on each, which is the move that lets one address handle ski-week families, summer date nights, and the late-night village crowd.
The second floor is the destination brewpub: a stone fireplace, the working tap list, and the kitchen's traditional pub fare. In the warmer months, the deck over Mirror Lake is the better seat. The dog-friendly beer garden out front handles families with pets and the overflow on a Friday in July.
Downstairs, P. J. O'Neill's runs an Irish-pub atmosphere with warm aged wood and brick, the late-night room. Twelve house beers on tap, a kids' room with toys for parents who need an hour, and online ordering for takeout. Best for ski-week dinners when the chain spots downtown are overrun, and for visitors who want a beer brewed where they are drinking it.
