§ Field Notes
About Blue Line Brewery.
Lake Flower Avenue in Saranac Lake, on the south side of the village, with parking and patio room that downtown doesn't have. Founded in 2012, with the kitchen opening in 2014, which makes Blue Line the third-oldest brewery inside the Blue Line. That's the local pun and also the actual age claim.
The pizza is the surprise. South Shore-style bar pizza is a Boston-area format: thin, cheesy, personal-sized, crisped hard on a steel pan. It's not common above the Mass Pike, let alone in the Adirondacks, and Blue Line does it well. The wings won 2018 Wing Wars and use an eight-ingredient brine, slow-cooked then flash-fried, which is the right method even if every wing place claims it.
Family-friendly room, sponsors local youth teams, and sells crowlers for take-home. Catering for events. Best for Saranac Lake locals on a Tuesday night and visitors who've already done downtown's pricier dining-room options. Year-round.
