About Wild Waters Outdoor Center Sacandaga Base.
Lake Avenue in Lake Luzerne, the base for whitewater rafting trips on the Hudson River Gorge and the Sacandaga River. The Gorge is the serious whitewater run in New York: 17 miles of Class III-IV water through a roadless canyon, six hours on the water with the dam releases setting the schedule. Ages 8 and up handle this responsibly, which is honest for the rapids involved.
The Sacandaga River trip is the gentler alternative, suitable for younger first-timers and casual riders who want a real river day without the Gorge's commitment. The Rip to Glen Rafting Trip offers a third option blending sections of both. Private rafts are available for groups that want their own boat with a dedicated guide.
The Sacandaga base puts riders within an hour of Lake George and 30 minutes of Northway Exit 21. From here, Wild Waters runs guided trips through the rafting season, with the spring runoff delivering the hardest water and fall foliage trips covering the postcard images. Best for first-time Class III rafters and families with older kids who want a real whitewater day on the Hudson. Book ahead for Memorial Day weekend and the last two weekends in September.
