Lake Avenue in Lake George Village, at Shore Meadows Lodge, inside the 5 mph zone that covers the head of the lake. That's the right launch for paddlers; everywhere south is the high-speed zone where you don't want to be in a single kayak. Fleet runs single kayaks ($29 an hour), tandem kayaks ($45), paddleboards ($29), and paddle boat ($59). Pricing is per hour, no full-day discount. The single kayak is the right pick for solo exploration of the village shoreline; the paddleboard is the better workout choice on a flat morning; the paddle boat handles kids who can't manage a paddle. No pets on rentals. Daily 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Operates seasonally, reopening each year in May and closing in October. Groups (scout outings, corporate teams, family reunions) can book ahead. Best for travelers staying in the village who don't want to drive to Bolton Landing for a paddle; the Million Dollar Beach is a short paddle from the launch.
