About Smoke Signals.

Main Street in Lake Placid, on the village's commercial strip a short walk from the speed-skating oval. Smoke Signals runs as the village's serious barbecue option: brisket and pulled chicken smoked on site, plus the standard supporting cast of mac and cheese, cornbread, slaw, and Caesar salad, most of it made from scratch. The brisket is the order on a first visit. It's the harder cook to get right, and the kitchen handles it competently rather than just slow-roasting and calling it smoked. The wings are the second move. Bar program is decent, which matters because a full-service barbecue room in Lake Placid is otherwise rare. Walk-in friendly, casual room, family-appropriate. Catering for off-site events is available. Hours rotate seasonally (quieter in the shoulder months), so confirm before planning a late dinner in May or November. Best for hikers and skiers who've had enough pub burgers and want a heavy plate that's not a steakhouse.
