Morningside Drive, on the high ground above Lake Placid village, set in the white pines. The footprint is the headline: more than 900 acres, which is unusual for a resort this close to a working ski-and-Olympic town. Most of that acreage is golf and real estate; a smaller slice is the lodging and event piece.

Forty-five holes of championship golf is the principal draw, split across courses that handle everything from a high-handicapper's vacation round to a serious tournament setup. The High Peaks make the backdrop, which is the part the photographs never quite capture.

Lodging is operated under the Grandview Hotel brand on the property. The estate also functions as a large-scale wedding venue with panoramic mountain views and runs a real-estate program of condos and building lots for buyers who want to own here rather than rent. Year-round, with the golf season as the obvious peak.
