§ Field Notes
About Indian Lake Public Beach.
Chain Lakes Road in Indian Lake, off Route 30 just outside the hamlet. The town beach is the public swim access on Indian Lake itself (separate from the state-managed launch areas), with a sandy shore that runs a short stretch along the water and grass behind for picnic tables.
The lake is the second-largest in the central Adirondacks and stays cold into June; July and August are the swimming months. The beach is the practical option for renters in the hamlet who don't have lake frontage and for travelers passing through Indian Lake who want a midday swim stop on the drive between Long Lake and North Creek.
Lifeguard schedule varies year to year; the town updates the hours each spring. Free, no reservation. Best for families with younger kids who want a controlled sand-and-shallow-water spot rather than a rocky shoreline. Summer only.
