About Rock and River.
Rock and River Lodges is a family-run business established in 1988, offering year-round lodging in the Adirondack High Peaks, near Keene, N.Y. The property features two distinct Adirondack-style buildings: The Guide’s House, which sleeps 14, and The Climber’s Lodge, accommodating 12 guests. Both lodges are rented entirely, making them ideal basecamps for groups such as families, clubs, schools, and friends seeking a private retreat.
The lodges are situated on a quiet mountain valley property, surrounded by open fields, mountain views, and the gardens and apple trees of an 1800s homestead. This secluded setting is bordered by thousands of acres of state-owned wilderness, providing direct access to extensive outdoor activities. Guests can enjoy excellent hiking, skiing, rock climbing, and ice climbing right from the doorstep of the property.
While the guide service ceased operations in March 2026, the lodging business remains fully operational. Rock and River continues to provide a unique lodging experience for outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore the natural beauty of the Adirondacks.
