About Ausable Inn.
Ausable Inn is a family-style American restaurant, bar, liquor store, and inn at 1809 NY-73 in Keene Valley — the gateway hamlet for the eastern High Peaks.
The kitchen runs a comfort-American menu that locals have come to know by name: wings, fish and chips, Montreal brisket sandwich, steak au poivre, scallops, and a much-praised Hungarian mushroom soup that reviewers consistently single out. Non-meat options are well represented across the menu.
Hours vary seasonally; the most consistent pattern is Wednesday through Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., closed Monday and Tuesday. Reservations accepted; takeout available. Phone: (518) 576-9584. Best for: post-hike dinners after a High Peaks day, family meals, and travelers on NY-73 between Lake Placid and the Northway.
