About The Erlowest.
Lake Shore Drive on the western shore of Lake George. The Erlowest is the stone castle on this side of the lake, the original summer house of a former New York Governor built in Queen Anne stonework, now run as a working inn and restaurant. The architecture is unusual enough on Lake George to be the property's signature on its own.
Lodging splits two ways. The Castle Suites inside the main building run as the adults-only inn, the quieter side of the operation. Townhomes, villas, and cabins on the property handle families, larger parties, and longer stays. Both sides share the lakefront grounds and the broader resort amenity stack.
The dining room is the second reason to come. Shepard's The Restaurant at Erlowest runs at the 4-Diamond level with a seasonal menu and an extensive wine list. Historic dining rooms inside, a fireplace patio outside for shoulder seasons, and heated igloos on the lawn in winter, which are the seats to book if you want lake views in February. Farm-fresh breakfast for in-house guests. Best for couples and wedding parties; the Castle Suites are not where you bring children.
