§ Field Notes
About Adirondack Store & Gallery.
Saranac-Placid Road, on the western edge of Lake Placid heading toward Saranac Lake. This is the rustic-furniture store rather than the rustic-themed gift shop, which is the distinction that matters when you're shopping for a camp. The inventory is real: Old Hickory sofas, loveseats, and barstools, bentwood rockers, antler-base end tables, plus beds, dressers, cabinets, and lighting in the lodge idiom.
The second floor and the back of the store hold the bigger pieces. Taxidermy and the heavier antique stock live there too. For buyers furnishing a recently bought camp or a renovated lake house, this is the one-stop in the High Peaks region; the alternative is driving to North Creek for similar inventory.
Sister locations in Tupper Lake and New Canaan, Connecticut, all open daily 10 to 5. Shipping is available; for the larger pieces, plan the delivery in advance because the freight isn't cheap. Year-round.
