§ Field Notes
About Revolution Rail Co. - Thurman Station.
Railroad Place in North Creek, at Thurman Station on the historic Adirondack Railroad corridor. Rail biking is the pedal-powered way to ride a disused rail bed: four-person rail bikes roll on flanged wheels at walking-to-jogging speed, hands on the handlebars and feet on the pedals, the train tracks doing the steering.
The Thurman Station tours roll alongside the Hudson River through the southern Adirondacks, in mixed forest and open river-bank country. The corridor's grade is rail-flat, which makes the ride workable for kids and grandparents alike: no climbing required. Tour windows are seasonal and weather-dependent; check the published calendar before driving up.
The operator (also runs the Thurman base nearby, plus locations in other states) holds Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice recognition over multiple years, with hundreds of thousands of riders through the system. For visitors who want a real rail-corridor experience without committing to a full-day train ride or a multi-mile hike, this is the right product. Best paired with a North Creek lunch or a Gore Mountain day in the off-season; reserve ahead in summer and foliage weeks.
