§ The Story

What you’re stepping into .

1,500 feet of Ausable River frontage at the foot of Whiteface.

A mile from the Whiteface base, on the West Branch of the Ausable, which is one of the most fished trout rivers in the Northeast. The resort owns 1,500 feet of river frontage, and the fly shop on the property runs guided trips and gear sales for guests who want to actually use it rather than look at it.

Lodging is straightforward and spacious. Two restaurants split the work: the Hungry Trout Restaurant is the sit-down evening room, and the HT Tavern is the louder, faster, beer-and-burger side. Both have outdoor seating in the warm months.

The location does double duty. Ski Whiteface and Lake Placid in winter; fish, hike, climb, and ride from the same door the rest of the year. The customizable adventure packages take the guesswork out of pairing lodging with a guided day on the water. Year-round, with March and October as the quieter weeks.
