§ Field Notes

About Topridge.

Camp Topridge was Marjorie Merriweather Post's Adirondack estate on Upper St. Regis Lake — at its height some 68 buildings, staffed like a small village, reached by private railcar and boat. Post left it to New York State, which later sold it back into private hands. It is not open to the public; the glimpse from a St. Regis lake cruise is as close as visitors get.
