What you’re stepping into .
Boat-access lean-to on Long Lake's Tioga Point.
Long Lake, at Tioga Point, the boat-access campground managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Site #7 specifically is a lean-to: a three-sided wooden shelter with a floor and a roof, the standard DEC structure for backcountry camping in the Adirondacks.
The campground itself sits on the east shore of Long Lake, primarily accessible by boat from the village hamlet a few miles south. Paddlers and small motorboaters use it as both a destination and as an intermediate stop on the Long Lake-to-Raquette River paddling chain. The lean-to format is rustic by design: no electricity, no plumbing, no walls on the open side. Bring everything you need for a backcountry overnight.
DEC runs the reservation system through the standard state reservation portal. Site #7 books on the same system as the rest of the Tioga Point inventory. Confirm season dates, fees, and access conditions directly on the DEC website before planning the trip. Best for paddlers doing the Long Lake or Raquette River circuit and for anglers wanting a real backcountry overnight without a long carry.
