About ÖÖD Whiteface at Jay.
Perched on the edge of a ridge within a sprawling 50-acre hilltop woods in Jay, the ÖÖD Whiteface cabin presents a distinctive blend of modern Scandinavian design and immersive natural beauty. This unique structure, designed and built in Estonia, features three walls of floor-to-ceiling, one-way privacy glass. From the exterior, the cabin's mirrored facade reflects the surrounding pines and the distant peaks, allowing it to blend seamlessly into the Adirondack landscape. Inside, guests are treated to an open, airy space with uninterrupted 180-degree views of the forest and direct sightlines to Whiteface Mountain, creating a profound connection to the outdoors while maintaining complete privacy.
Crafted with a full steel frame and industrial-grade mirror glass, the **220 sq ft** cabin is built for durability and comfort across all seasons. The interior space is thoughtfully appointed for two guests, featuring a comfortable king bed, heated tile floors, and warm oak-paneled walls. A fully equipped kitchenette allows for simple meal preparation, complemented by a full-length walk-in shower and bathroom. Insulated glass and radiant floor heating ensure a cozy atmosphere even on the coldest winter mornings, while the mirrored glass reflects 97% of UV rays, keeping the space cool and comfortable during warmer months.
Adjacent to the cabin on its private deck, a luxurious Scandinavian sauna awaits, featuring its own forest-facing, floor-to-ceiling glass wall. This **$35,000** amenity, equipped with an electric Harvia stove, is included with your booking and is exclusively private for cabin guests, available year-round. Beyond the deck, a small clearing provides a firepit and grill, perfect for evenings under the stars. While this cabin is the first in a phased, 7-cabin micro-development, its location within the 50-acre property and a curved private driveway ensure complete visual seclusion, offering guests an undisturbed, private experience.
While the setting feels remote, the cabin offers convenient access to a wealth of Adirondack activities. The historic Jay Covered Bridge, a popular spot for swimming on warm days, is just three minutes away. Whiteface Mountain ski area, host of the 1980 Winter Olympics, is a quick 15-minute drive. Hikers can reach High Peaks trailheads in Keene Valley in 15 minutes or explore the popular Jay Mountain trail, just four miles away. Mountain biking enthusiasts will find extensive trail networks, including the Hardy Road Trails, within a 10-minute drive. For a scenic drive and local provisions, Stickney Bridge Road winds through picturesque farmland, offering access to farm stands at Asgaard Farm, Blue Pepper Farm, and Sugarhouse Creamery.
This unique lodging experience is available year-round, ideal for couples or solo travelers seeking a romantic escape or a digital detox. Pets are welcome, though arrangements should be made prior to arrival. While there may be ongoing site work elsewhere on the property during a phased buildout, no construction activity is visible from the cabin, ensuring the views remain pristine. Guests will have private access to the cabin, deck, sauna, yard, firepit, and grill throughout their stay.
