About Adirondack Railroad.
The Adirondack Railroad provides scenic train journeys throughout the Adirondack region of New York, allowing passengers to explore historical sites and natural beauty. Passengers can embark on various excursions, including round trips from Utica to Remsen, Utica to Old Forge, or longer journeys from Utica or Thendara to Tupper Lake. The railroad also offers unique experiences such as Beer & Wine Train Series, The Madd Hatter Tea Room, and seasonal events like The Polar Express and Mother's Day Specials.
Operated by the Adirondack Railway Preservation Society (ARPS), the railroad aims to preserve and restore rail service, fostering economic development and offering educational opportunities. ARPS partners with local communities and businesses to promote the railway and its role in the region.
The railroad departs from key stations including Utica Union Station, Thendara Station (near Old Forge), and Tupper Lake Station. Beyond train rides, the organization also offers railbike experiences, memberships, and opportunities to volunteer, contributing to the preservation of rail service and the expansion of rail and trail-based offerings in the Adirondack Park.
