About Wakonda Family Campground.
Wakonda Family Campground, Inc. is a cooperative established in 1990, located on 82 acres in Pottersville, New York. The property features frontage on both a thirty-five-acre private lake, Lake Wakonda, and a half-mile stretch of the Schroon River, one mile below the south end of Schroon Lake.
The cooperative consists of 132 campsites and 16 cottages, with 148 shareholders who jointly own and operate the property. Each shareholder receives a proprietary lease, granting exclusive occupancy of their purchased cottage or campsite.
Amenities include two sandy beaches on Lake Wakonda, courts for tennis, pickleball, and basketball, a sand volleyball court, and a softball field. Guests can also enjoy a playground, a dog park, a group campfire area, and boating access along the Schroon River.
The campground provides cable TV, small boat/canoe racks, and launch areas at Lake Wakonda and the Schroon River, along with a coin-operated laundry. Cooperative services cover road maintenance, water supply, secondary electric distribution, weekly trash pickup, and propane refills.
