§ Field Notes
About Saranac Lake Islands Campground - Campsite #77.
This campground provides primitive camping on islands within Lower Saranac Lake, accessible only by boat. Miles of waterways offer ample opportunities for boating, with a system of locks connecting to four additional lakes. Campers should be prepared for a primitive experience, as no potable water is available, though outhouses are present at each location. Sites are carry-in, carry-out, and recycling is available at other DEC campgrounds. When making reservations, be aware that parking may be limited, and you might need to use municipal lots in Saranac Lake Village. Displaying your camping permit at boat launch sites is required to avoid ticketing or towing.
