About Saranac Lake Islands Campground - Campsite #70.
Located on the Lower Saranac Lake Islands, this campground offers primitive, boat-access-only campsites. Campers can enjoy miles of boater recreation and direct access to four other lakes through a series of locks that manage water levels. Each island site provides a rustic camping experience with outhouses, but no potable water is available, and a strict carry-in, carry-out policy is enforced.
Reservations can be made up to nine months in advance, with same-day bookings permitted until 5 PM on arrival. Check-in is from 2 PM to 9 PM, and check-out is at 11 AM. Each campsite accommodates up to six individuals, with a limit of two tents or one hard-wheeled unit and one tent. Two vehicles are permitted per site, though parking may be limited, potentially requiring use of municipal lots in Saranac Lake Village.
Key regulations include quiet hours from 10 PM to 7 AM and limited generator use during designated daily hours. Fires must be built in provided fireplaces using only dead and downed wood. Visitors must not move firewood and should help prevent aquatic invasive species. Pets are allowed with proof of rabies vaccination and must be on a leash, but are not permitted in facility…
