About STEM Ranch.
The STEM Ranch Project is a capital campaign by the Greater Hudson Valley Council to establish a new camp at Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation. This expansion aims to enhance the offerings in Skilled Trades, STEM, Maker Arts, and Equestrian Studies, reflecting the increasing popularity of related merit badges and the demand for skilled trades workers. The camp will feature new buildings and learning areas, including a STEM Lab Building, a Sustainable Classroom designed to showcase off-grid energy systems, a new Camp Shower House, and upgrades to the existing STEM Ranch Headquarters.
The equestrian program, already a popular feature at Read Scout Reservation, will continue with minimal upgrades. The project seeks to provide a dedicated space for hands-on learning and imagination, equipping scouts with valuable skills for the future. Fundraising efforts, such as the Cornerstone Club and naming opportunities for various facilities, are underway to support the development of STEM Ranch, which is envisioned as a sought-after destination for scouts for generations to come.
