About Jay Mountain Wilderness.
This wilderness area spans 7,951 acres and is recognized as the smallest wilderness within the Adirondack Forest Preserve. Despite its modest size, it offers a distinct Adirondack experience.
Visitors can explore the area's treeless mountain summits, which provide expansive views of the surrounding landscape. A notable feature is a 2.5-mile hiking trail that leads to panoramic 360-degree vistas, characteristic of a true Adirondack setting.
