About Adirondack Rail Trail Trailhead.
The Adirondack Rail Trail is a 34-mile multipurpose pathway spanning from Lake Placid to Tupper Lake, traversing vibrant sections of Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, and Tupper Lake communities. This year-round trail is designed for users of all ages and abilities, inviting both residents and visitors to engage in healthy exercise and connect with the natural environment.
The trail provides a unique opportunity to explore Adirondack history while enjoying outdoor recreation. It is officially managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), with the Adirondack Rail Trail Association (ARTA) partnering to support trail maintenance and amenities.
Visitors can plan their adventure using the website, which offers resources like a detailed trail map, information on parking areas, and guides for trip planning. The recently opened Phase 3 extends the trail from Floodwood Road to Tupper Lake, further enhancing the trail's reach and offerings.
