Built in **2013** by a lifelong local, this handcrafted log cabin offers a serene escape on the banks of the West Ausable River. The 1,400 square-foot chalet is designed with an authentic Adirondack aesthetic, featuring a real round-log exterior, warm cedar and pine interiors, and polished hardwood floors throughout. It provides a comfortable and inviting atmosphere, blending traditional charm with essential modern conveniences, making it a fitting base for families, couples, or nature enthusiasts exploring the region.
The chalet includes two distinct bedrooms and two full bathrooms, comfortably accommodating up to six guests. The sleeping arrangements are thoughtfully designed, featuring four beds in total, with an open loft space that holds a twin bed and a futon, ideal for additional family members or as a relaxed lounge area. Guests will find a fully equipped kitchen complete with stainless appliances, perfect for preparing meals after a day of Adirondack adventures. For comfort on cooler evenings, the cabin boasts radiant in-floor heating and a cozy gas fireplace, while the master bath offers a deep jacuzzi tub in a slate-and-cedar setting.
Outside, the property encourages connection with the natural landscape. A spacious 12' x 24' riverfront deck provides a prime spot for relaxation, complemented by a master balcony that offers direct, picturesque views of Whiteface Mountain. Guests can unwind by the outdoor firepit under a canopy of stars, settling into Adirondack chairs to listen to the gentle sounds of the river. Canoes are available for guest use, providing an opportunity to paddle the Ausable's calm stretches. The chalet's quiet, private location at the end of a long drive, nestled among white pines, ensures a peaceful retreat.
The Wilmington Range Chalet’s location is particularly advantageous for those keen to explore the Adirondacks. It is just a minute from the local shops and restaurants of Wilmington town center, offering easy access to provisions and dining. Whiteface Mountain Ski Resort and its extensive mountain biking trails are only five minutes away, providing year-round recreational opportunities. For broader exploration, Lake Placid and the popular Keene Valley hiking trails are a scenic fifteen-minute drive. Anglers will appreciate the private access to the world-famous fly fishing waters of the Ausable River, and the chalet serves as an excellent launchpad for those aspiring to hike the High Peaks.
Guests are welcomed with a few considerate amenities and policies. Firewood is included for use in the outdoor firepit, ensuring evenings under the stars are always warm and inviting. Children are welcome, and the cabin is also pet-friendly, with dogs permitted for a fee of $25 per night, subject to specific policies. While a minimum three-night stay is typical, waivers may be available for last-minute bookings or to fill open dates. An extra person fee of $35 per night applies for groups exceeding four guests, for anyone aged four and up.
