About Summit Weather Observatory.
The University at Albany's Atmospheric Sciences Research Center (ASRC) operates the Summit Weather Observatory, providing comprehensive weather monitoring for the Whiteface Mountain region. This facility offers live weather conditions and data directly from its observatory at the mountain's summit, with information updated every five minutes and images every two minutes for current temperature, wind, and atmospheric pressure.
Further weather insights are available from the NYS Mesonet "WFMB" station at the Marble Mountain Field Station, located next to the ASRC research facilities. This station provides data on temperature, wind speed and direction, relative humidity, pressure, and solar insolation, also updated frequently. The observatory also features time-lapse videos capturing views from the summit, offering a visual record of daily conditions.
The ASRC Whiteface Mountain Field Station, which encompasses these observatories, is committed to scientific research and community engagement, serving as a key resource for alpine weather and climate studies in the Adirondacks. The facility is located at 110 Marble Mtn. Lane, Wilmington, NY 12997.
