§ Field Notes
About Historic Copeland Covered Bridge.
The Copeland Covered Bridge was constructed in 1879 by Arad Copeland to provide access to his garden and pasture land across Beecher Creek. This single-span structure is 35 feet long and features a Queenpost truss design, making it one of only two Queenpost truss covered bridges in New York State.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998, the bridge remained in the Copeland family until 1997 when it was donated to the Edinburg Historical Society. The Society, in partnership with the town, completed a full restoration of the bridge and site improvements between 2000 and 2003, with a re-dedication celebration held in 2002.
Located in Edinburg, Saratoga County, the Copeland Covered Bridge is the sole remaining covered bridge in the county. It now carries pedestrian traffic across Beecher Creek and is maintained by the Edinburg Historical Society. The bridge is a popular attraction, frequently photographed and painted by visitors.
